The Color Swatch option displays color choices as round colored circles — perfect for products where color matters, like apparel, candles, accessories, or anything with a visual color choice. You pick the colors with a built-in color picker, and you can configure it for single or multiple choice.
To set up the Color Swatch option, follow these steps:
>> Go to the MultiVariants dashboard, open an existing ruleset (or create a new one), open the Product Options tab at the bottom, and click “+ Add option“.
>> Select Color Swatch and click Add option.
>> At the top of the Color Swatch panel, pick the swatch style:
- Single choice swatch — customer picks only one color at a time.
- Multiple choice swatch — customer can pick multiple colors at once.
>> Configure the fields you need — only the ones you fill in will apply, the rest stay optional:
- Option title — the label shown above the swatches, e.g. “Strap color”.
- Short description — optional one-liner for context.
- Help text — optional helper line below the swatches.
- Required — set to Yes if the customer must pick one.
- Display on each variant — leave unchecked to show one set of color swatches at the top of the bulk-order section, shared across all variants. Check it to repeat the swatches under each variant row.
>> Add your color choices in the attribute table below the basic fields. Each row has the following columns:
- Swatch Title — color name, e.g. “Red”, “Forest green” (max 100 characters).
- Color — click the color square to open the color picker. Pick visually or paste a HEX code.
- Price — add-on price for this choice.
- Default — tick the color you want pre-selected.
Click + Add attribute to add another row.
>> Click Save in the top save bar.
Your Color Swatch option is now live on every product the ruleset applies to. You can also add more options by clicking the + Add more options button, and adjust the design and placement of the option by following the steps below.
>> To add another option, click + Add more options at the bottom.
>> To choose where the Color Swatch option appears on the product page, click the small gear icon at the top of the Product Options tab, select Above or Below MultiVariants listing, and click Save changes.
>> To restyle the Color Swatch option, click the gear icon at the top right of the option card and adjust default background color, active background color, default and active border colors, and the color swatch size in pixels. Click Customize to apply.
