The Button Swatch option shows your choices as a row of pill-shaped buttons — clean and compact, perfect for size, model, finish, or any short labels you want clickable in a row. You can configure it for single or multiple choice.
To set up the Button Swatch option, follow these steps:
>> Go to the MultiVariants dashboard, open an existing ruleset (or create a new one), open the Product Options tab at the bottom, and click “+ Add option“.
>> Select Button Swatch and click Add option.
>> At the top of the Button Swatch panel, pick the swatch style:
- Single choice swatch — customer picks only one button at a time.
- Multiple choice swatch — customer can pick more than one button.
>> Configure the fields you need — only the ones you fill in will apply, the rest stay optional:
- Option title — the label shown above the button row, e.g. “Choose your phone model”.
- Short description — optional one-liner for context.
- Help text — optional helper line below the row.
- Required — set to Yes if the customer must pick one.
- Display on each variant — leave unchecked to show one button row at the top of the bulk-order section, shared across all variants. Check it to repeat the row under each variant row.
>> Add your button swatch choices in the attribute table below the basic fields. Each row has the following columns:
- Swatch Title — kept short, displayed as a button (max 100 characters).
- Image — optional icon shown on the button.
- Price — add-on price for this choice.
- Default — tick the choice you want pre-selected. For Single choice, only one. For Multiple choice, more than one is allowed.
Click + Add attribute to add another row.
>> Click Save in the top save bar.
Your Button Swatch option is now live on every product the ruleset applies to. You can also add more options by clicking the + Add more options button, and adjust the design and placement of the option by following the steps below.
>> To add another option, click + Add more options at the bottom.
>> To choose where the Button Swatch option appears on the product page, click the small gear icon at the top of the Product Options tab, select Above or Below MultiVariants listing, and click Save changes.
>> To restyle the Button Swatch option, click the gear icon at the top right of the option card and adjust border colors, background, text color, and border radius. Click Customize to apply.
