The Checkbox option in MultiVariants lets customers select multiple choices from a list when ordering a product. You can add optional images and prices to each choice, pre-select one or more default choices, make at least one selection required, and display one shared checkbox list or a separate list for each variant.
Before You Start: Make sure the product is included in the ruleset where you want to add the Checkbox option. The option will appear on products that the ruleset applies to.

How to Set Up a Custom Checkbox Option
Follow these steps to create and configure a Checkbox option.
Step#1 Open Product Options
>> Go to the MultiVariants dashboard, open an existing ruleset or create a new one, open the Product Options tab, and click + Add option.
Step#2 Select the Checkbox Option
>> Select Checkbox from the available option types and click Add option.
Step#3 Configure the Checkbox Settings
>> Configure the fields based on how you want the Checkbox option to appear and behave on the storefront.
Option title — enter the heading customers will see above the checkbox list, such as “Choose add-ons.”
Short description — add an optional short description to explain what customers can select.
Help text — add optional instructions or supporting information below the checkbox list.
Required — set to Yes if customers must select at least one checkbox choice before adding the product to the cart.
Display on each variant — leave this unchecked to show one shared checkbox list above the bulk-order section. Check it to display a separate checkbox list under each variant row so customers can make different selections for individual variants.
Step#4 Add Your Checkbox Choices
>> Add the choices customers can select from the checkbox list. Each row contains the following settings:
Checkbox Title — enter the label customers will see for this choice. The title can contain up to 100 characters.
Image — upload an optional thumbnail to visually represent the checkbox choice.
Price — enter an optional additional charge for this checkbox choice. The price of each selected choice is added to the product total. Leave it blank if the choice should not add an extra charge.
Default — select any checkbox choices you want pre-selected when the product page loads. You can set multiple choices as default selections.
Note: Unlike the Radio option, Checkbox allows multiple choices to be selected or pre-selected at the same time.
Click + Add attribute to add another checkbox choice. Drag the handle on the left of a row to change the order in which the choices appear on the storefront.
Example: For a gift product, you could add “Gift wrap,” “Greeting card,” and “Premium box” as checkbox choices, attach a different add-on price to each one, and pre-select “Gift wrap” by default.
Step#5 Save the Checkbox Option
>> Click Save in the top save bar after reviewing the Checkbox settings.
Step#6 Test the Checkbox Option on Your Storefront
Open a product page where the ruleset applies and test the Checkbox option. Confirm that customers can select multiple choices, default selections appear correctly, any add-on prices are added as expected, required selections are enforced, and the selected choices remain attached when the product is added to the cart.
Manage Checkbox Placement and Styling
Add Another Product Option
>> Click + Add more options if you want to add another Product Option to the same ruleset.
Choose the Checkbox Option Placement
Placement — determines whether the Checkbox option appears above or below the MultiVariants listing on the product page.
>> Click the gear icon at the top of the Product Options tab, select Above MultiVariants listing or Below MultiVariants listing, and click Save changes.
Customize the Checkbox Option Style
>> Click the gear icon at the top-right of the Checkbox option card to adjust the available styling settings, including border colors, background, text color, and border radius. Click Customize to apply the changes.
Common Issues
Customers can select more than one checkbox choice
This is expected behavior for the Checkbox option. If customers should be able to select only one choice, use the Radio option instead.
This is a particularly useful issue because it explains the distinction between Checkbox and Radio.
Customers can add the product without selecting a checkbox
Set Required to Yes if customers must select at least one checkbox choice before adding the product to the cart.
The wrong checkbox choices are selected when the page loads
Check the Default settings and confirm that only the choices you want pre-selected are marked as default.
The total price increases when customers select a checkbox
Check the Price field for that choice. Each selected checkbox with an add-on price increases the product total. Remove or update the price if the choice should not add an extra charge.
I need different checkbox selections for each variant
Enable Display on each variant to show a separate checkbox list under each variant row.
