The Dropdown option lets your customers pick one choice from a list — great for things like print method, finish, packaging style, or any single-choice selection. Each choice can have its own image and price, and one of them can be marked as the default.
To set up the Dropdown option, follow these steps:
>> Go to the MultiVariants dashboard, open an existing ruleset (or create a new one), open the Product Options tab at the bottom, and click “+ Add option“.
>> Select Dropdown and click Add option.
>> Configure the fields you need — only the ones you fill in will apply, the rest stay optional:
- Option title — the label shown above the dropdown, e.g. “Select printing type”.
- Short description — optional one-liner for context.
- Help text — optional helper line below the dropdown.
- Required — set to Yes if the customer must select an option.
- Display on each variant — leave unchecked to show one dropdown at the top of the bulk-order section, shared across all variants. Check it to repeat the dropdown under each variant row, so the customer can choose differently per variant.
>> Add your dropdown choices in the attribute table below the basic fields. Each row has the following columns:
- Dropdown Title — the choice label, e.g. “Screen print” (max 100 characters).
- Image — optional thumbnail (max 1 MB; JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG).
- Price — add-on price for this choice ( If needed ).
- Default — This option is optional; ( tick the choice you want pre-selected. Only one choice can be the default. )
Click + Add attribute to add another row. Drag the handle on the left of any row to reorder.
>> Click Save in the top save bar.
Your Dropdown option is now live on every product the ruleset applies to. You can also add more options by clicking the + Add more options button, and adjust the design and placement of the option by following the steps below.
>> To add another option, click + Add more options at the bottom.
>> To choose where the Dropdown option appears on the product page, click the small gear icon at the top of the Product Options tab, select Above or Below MultiVariants listing, and click Save changes.
>> To restyle the Dropdown option, click the gear icon at the top right of the option card and adjust border colors, background, text color, and border radius. Click Customize to apply.
